Everyone of us, believers and non-believers alike, we must decide whether to trust in the empty promises of our idols, or to worship the Lord alone!
At Mt. Carmel, God accepted the sacrifice by sending fire from heaven
At the cross, God accepted the perfect sacrifice of His Son by pouring out His judgment upon Him instead of upon us
Through Christ, sinners are reconciled to God, and invited into a restored relationship with Him
For all believers, this passage is a call to wholehearted devotion, and the removal of every idol that competes with Christ
