integrity and fairness

ptr. jojo fernandez

main passage

1 timothy 5:21-25

the health of the church hinges on godly leadership

the church should judge or choose potential leaders impartially
1 Timothy 5:21
In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels I charge you to keep these rules without prejudging, doing nothing from partiality.

appoint carefully
1 Timothy 5:22
Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, nor take part in the sins of others; keep yourself pure.

discern patiently
1 Timothy 5:24-25
The sins of some men are conspicuous, going before them to judgment, but the sins of others appear later.
So also good works are conspicuous, and even those that are not cannot remain hidden.

in choosing and appointing leaders, let us uphold God’s standards, not man’s preferences

in doing so, we protect the purity of the church, and reflect the character of Christ

for the leaders who have already been appointed –
are you walking in the integrity God requires, both as a leader and as a member?

let us commit anew to pursue holiness and fairness, and honoring Christ above all
