2 timothy 4:3-4

as a church –

• let us preach and guard the right doctrine – we must prioritize the truth of the scripture, not trends
• let us continue to teach expositionally
• train leaders to rightly handle the Word

for every believer, let us cultivate proper biblical discernment –

• do not follow, or even entertain so-called teachers – those who are capable of distorting and diluting the truth
• let us exercise the berean mindset (acts 17:11) in discerning the truth
• let us saturate ourselves in scripture (psalm 119:105)
• let us commit to live out the message and do not merely listen to it (james 1:22-25)

for the preachers and teachers, let us commit ourselves to –

• preach the Word in season and out of season
• not according to our own understanding and knowledge, not according to the audience’s desires, but according to God’s mandate

for everyone, let us love the truth –

• yes, most of the time the truth hurts
• let us ask God for a heart that desires His Word (psalm 119:97)
• for the gospel remains the power of God unto salvation (romans 1:16)
